Search Strategy #1: Be Specific

By far, the most efficient way to obtain relevant search returns fast is to type specific medical terms into the Search Field and hitting the enter key, return key or clicking "Search." Try to use more, rather than fewer, keywords to obtain better search returns. For example:

Instead of searching for "laminectomy", try to be more specific as in "L4-5 laminectomy." Quotation marks are not necessary.

Medical Records: The Key to Relevant Keywords

The most accurate sources of relevant medical keywords are your client's patient medical records, but you should know what you're looking for before sifting through piles of documentation. Start by looking for the following documents:

  1. Medical Records Overview
  2. Discharge Summary (Final Diagnosis or Procedures)
  3. Operative Notes (Post-operative Diagnosis or Operation)
  4. Radiology Report (Impression)
  5. Pathology Report (Diagnosis)

If you are in doubt about what records to use, call Medical Legal Art at 1-800-338-5954 during regular business hours (M-F, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, EST) and ask to speak with a Customer Service representative. Or email us at [email protected] for a free consultation.

Search Strategy #2: Browse by Category or Content Type

Search our convenient Category listings displaying the best-selling, most popularly viewed items in order. Under Categories, choose a Medical Specialty or Body Region. For Content Type, choose Content Collections, Anatomical Models, Medifocus Guides or Injury Forum Reviews. Customers tell us these search methods help familiarize them with how our content is organized, titled, etc.
