Lower Back Injury with Surgical Repair - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This is a custom board that illustrates the two surgeries described in the bottom half of the previous board. The top half shows the three steps for the anterior procedure. This includes the retroperitoneal incision to access the lumbar vertebrae, the discectomy at L4-5, and the placing of the implant and anterior hardware. The bottom half illustrates three steps of the posterior approach. This includes the small bilateral posterior incisions at L4 and L5, the placement of the pedicle screws, and the use of a sextant to insert the fusion rods.
