Septic Surgical Wound Following Abdominal Surgery - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This medical exhibit depicts the progression of a post-operative septic surgical wound following abdominal surgery. The first illustration pictures the gross appearance of the wound on the female abdomen, with reactive, brown and murky infection drainage. The second illustration displays an enlarged cut-away view of the skin with the appearance of the sutured wound, progressing to infection and dehiscence, or splitting open of the sutures. It includes labels for sutures, skin, fat, fat fascia, muscle, peritoneum and the abdominal cavity. The third illustration pictures the infected material in the subcutaneous space, extending through the disrupted fascia into the abdominal cavity.

What attorneys say about MLA and The Doe Report:
"I thought you might want to know that after we sent a copy of your illustration to the defendants, with a copy to the insurance company, they increased their offer by an additional million dollars and the case was settled for $1,900,000.00.

I appreciate your help!"

"[I] have come to rely upon the Doe Report and your great staff of illustrators for all my medical malpractice cases. … Please know that I enthusiastically recommend you to all my colleagues.

"We got a defense verdict yesterday! Your exhibit was extremely helpful in showing the jury how unlikely it is to damage all four of the nerve branches which control the sense of taste."

"The illustrations have consistently been well documented, accurate and timely. Most important though is that the illustrations demonstrate to juries and claims people the persuasive power of visual communication. Our firm has achieved multiple eight figure settlements and verdicts over the past ten years... Medical Legal Art has been there with us on every case."
