Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair with Inappropriate Staple Placement - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit depicts a laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair with inappropriate staple placement. The first illustration is an orientation graphic that indicates the plane of axial section. The second illustration shows an axial section of the abdomen looking down into the pelvis. The laparascope, stapler and grasper are in position for the procedure. The third illustration shows the anatomy and pre-operative condition of the abdomen looking down into the pelvis, including the inguinal hernia, the 'triangle of doom,' the 'electrical hazard zone,' bladder, epigastric vessels, uterus, round ligament, ovary, colon, rectum, iliac vein and artery, genitofemoral nerve, lateral femoral cutaneous nerve and ilioinguinal nerve. The fourth illustration shows the correct placement of staples to secure the mesh during the procedure. Inferior and lateral edges of the mesh are left free to protect structures in the 'triangle of doom' and 'electrical hazard zone.' The fifth illustration depicts the incorrect placement of staples to secure the mesh. The staples are placed all the way around (circumferentially) the mesh, trapping nerves.

What attorneys say about MLA and The Doe Report:
"[Your staff] was extremely efficient, cooperative and gracious and [their] efforts produced a demonstrative exhibit that we used effectively throughout our trial. The jury verdict of $3,165,000.00 was, in no small measure, due to the impact of the demonstrative evidence. You may be sure that we will call again."

"Medical illustrations are essential evidence in personal injury litigation and MLA is simply the best I've found at producing high-quality illustrations. Your illustrators are not only first-class artists, but creative and responsive. Your turn around time is as good as it gets. My clients have won over $60 million in jury verdicts and I can't recall a case which did not include one of your exhibits. On behalf of those clients, thanks and keep up the great work!"
