This medical exhibit depicts the surgical procedure for laryngoscopic endotracheal intubation and the placement of a tracheostomy tube. The first illustration pictures endotracheal intubation with labels for the oral cavity, tongue, epiglottis, glottis, trachea, endotracheal tube, esophagus and laryngoscope. The second graphic portrays the placement of a tracheostomy tube, showing the incision site as a small inset.
