This stock medical exhibit portrays injuries to discs L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1. On the left, a sagital section of the lumbar spine shows where these injuries are located. On the right, the condition of each of these injured intervertebral discs (viewed from above) is illustrated - diffuse annular fissure and mild annular bulge at L3-L4, diffuse annular fissure and paracentral annular tear at L4-L5, and diffuse annular fissure, left paracentral annular tear, and annular bulge contacting left nerve root at L5-S1.
