Cervical Fusion - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit depicts a C5-6 anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedure. The first illustration is a sagittal view of the cervical spine showing the pre-operative condition with a disc bulge at C5-6. There are four steps of the operative procedure illustrated, beginning with the incision to expose the cervical vertebrae. Next shows the removal of the C5-6 intervertebral disc material. Then using a high speed drill, the disc space is cleaned to receive the bone graft. Finally the bone graft is sunk into the empty disc space and secured with a plate and four screws.
