This stock medical exhibit displays left wrist fractures with initial external fixation in a series of illustrations. The first illustration shows the pre-operative condition, including a comminuted intra-articular distal radius fracture and an ulnar fracture. The second illustration shows the first step in the fixation procedure, in which holes are drilled in multiple bones and pins are placed. The third illustration shows the attachment of an external fixation device to the pins. The fourth illustration shows successful reduction of the fractures and the insertion of two K-wires into the radius and ulna. The fifth illustration shows the post-operative condition with the external fixation device in place.
