The third through fifth illustrations show the condition of the knee after the accident, including synovitis of the suprapatellar pouch, medial plica syndrome, grade 2 chondromalacia of the patella and a medial meniscus tear. The seventh illustration shows the first step of the arthroscopic surgery, including the insertion of the arthroscopic instruments into the knee joint through separate incisions. The eighth illustration shows the debridement of the medial plica and patellar chondromalacia with a shaver. The ninth illustration shows the performance of a subtotal meniscectomy to remove a recurrent medial meniscal tear.
