Anterior-Posterior L5-S1 Discectomy and Fusion - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This single exhibit board shows the anterior and posterior approach for a discectomy and fusion at the L5-S1 level. The first group of three images illustrate the anterior discectomy procedure. The first image is of the left side incision in the patient’s abdomen to expose the lower anterior spine. The second and third images show the exposed spine with the removal of disc material and implantation of the Peek implant and securing screw and washer. The second group of images illustrates the posterior fusion procedure. The first image shows the middling posterior incision over the vertebrae L5 and S1. The second and third show the placement of the pedicle screws and rods, then decortication of the bones and placement of bone graft. There is also a small inset of a film showing the completed hardware.

What attorneys say about MLA and The Doe Report:
"We are extremely pleased with the quality of the medical exhibits and the timely manner in which they were provided. I will certainly recommend your company to my business associates who could benefit from your services. Please tell Brian Wilson [Director of Content Development, Senior Medical Illustrator] that he did an exceptional job on these exhibits."

"I wanted to thank you for the terrific job you did illustrating my client's injuries. The case was settled at the pre-suit mediation, and I believe a good part of the success we had was due to the medical legal art you prepared.

Your work received the ultimate compliment at the conclusion of the mediation. The hospital risk manager took the exhibit with them at the conclusion of mediation, and will be using it to train nurses on how to prevent bed sores..."

"The illustrations have consistently been well documented, accurate and timely. Most important though is that the illustrations demonstrate to juries and claims people the persuasive power of visual communication. Our firm has achieved multiple eight figure settlements and verdicts over the past ten years... Medical Legal Art has been there with us on every case."

"Your firm is great to work with and, most importantly for me, you get the job done on time and with the utmost professionalism. You should be proud of all those you employ, from KJ to Ben B. I've been especially pleased over the years with the work of Brian and Alice, both of whom seem to tolerate my idiosycratic compulsion to edit, but I've not found a bad apple in the bunch (and, as you know, I've used your firm a bunch!). I look forward to our continued professional relationship."
