Lumbar Spine Injury with Surgery - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing

This medical exhibit features the following multiple images of a lumbar spine injury surgery. The first illustration is a sagittal view of the pre-operative condition of the lumbar spine. The disc herniation at L5-S1 is clearly shown. This illustration is based directly off of the radiology films. The second illustration shows the incision being made in the back as the first step of the procedure. The third illustration portrays the lumbar laminectomy being performed. The fourth illustration depicts the debridement of bone and placement of graft. The fifth illustration shows the placement of pedical screws on the left side. The sixth illustration portrays the attachment of the rod to the two screws.
