This stock medical exhibit depicts a male patient with multiple injuries. The first image is an anterior portrait from the knees up, with affected organs shown transparently beneath the skin. It shows the burst fractures at L2 and L3, pancreatitis, and multiple skull fractures. The next image is a lateral view of the right eye and optic nerve, showing the right orbital fracture impinging on the optic nerve. The final image is an artist's interpretation of a lateral x-ray of the lumbar spine showing the burst fractures at L2 and L3 in greater detail.
"I wanted to take some time out to let you know what a wonderful job you did
with the 'collapsed lung/fractured rib' illustrations. They were both
detailed and accurate. My medical expert was comfortable working with them
and he spent at least an hour explaining to the jury the anatomy of the
lungs, the ribs and the injuries depicted in the illustrations. Needless to
say, the jury was riveted to the doctor during his testimony.
The jury returned a verdict for $800,000.00 and I'm sure we would not have
