Cervical Spine Injuries with Double Level Cervical Discectomy - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit features the pre-operative condition of the cervical spine with C5-6 and C6-7 disc protrusion and osteophytes with impingement on the spinal cord showing surgical steps of a double level cervical discectomy. Specifically shown in this case are multiple surgical steps detailing the following: A- An incision is created just lateral to the midline and the C6-7 intervertebral disc is exposed. B- A second incision is created parallel to the right iliac crest and two stnadard dowel fusion plugs are harvested. C- The C6-7 disc is exposed, a hole is drilled centered on the disc space, and the C6-7 disc is completely removed along with intruding osteophytes. D- A fusion bone plug is inserted. E- The identical procedure is carried out at the C5-6 level.

"I just wanted to let you know that after several days on trial, I settled [my client's] construction accident case for $4.5 million. Immediately after the jury was discharged, I spoke with several jurors who told me that they really appreciated the medical illustrations for their clarity in dealing with [my client's] devastating injuries. They also expressed their gratitude in being able to read from a distance all of the notations without difficulty. Obviously, the boards were visually persuasive. I am certain that this contributed to our successful result."
